After more than four decades, the dated 70s home of our clients needed a renovation. Their wish was to give the house a powerful personal identity and to convert it into a modern villa. We made the design for a complete transformation of the entire house. Since the layout was basically adequate, almost no major adjustments needed to be made to the main supporting construction. We did, however, draw an extension of the kitchen in which we used a substantial amount of glass, creating an open view into the garden and making the garden an integrated part of the house. By doing so, the house got a more spacious atmosphere.
The facades were insulated on the outside and finished with white stucco. The new window frames were made in dark grey aluminum. The roof was half removed and then bricked up on the existing walls, resulting in a full-fledged room in the attic. The tile roof was replaced with zinc. By covering the garage with sustainable wood, we have given the house a modern and warm feel.
Apart from the architectural design, in which we also created a covered terrace, we designed a furnishing and lighting plan for the kitchen.
Our design included a 3D visualization and examined which materials and colors would give the desired identity.
