Features existing home
The dated home of our clients is located in the beautiful area of Heilig Landstichting in The Netherlands. The house is characterized by an elongated facade and has a subdued appearance at the front. Due to a low gutter and ridge height, and the broad design, the house closely resembles a barrack. The front garden runs down considerably towards the rear so that the two floors are clearly visible. Structurally the house is in a good condition.
The design
In the design we took care to preserve as many constructive elements as possible. The existing sloping roof is removed and the outer walls are extended further up to the existing ridge height. This gives the house a clear height of 3.5 to 4 meters on the top floor. Everyday life takes place on this floor where the kitchen and sitting room with the beautiful view of the leafy garden are situated. At the lower, cooler, building level are the bedrooms.
Raising the exterior walls adds more grandeur to the front of the house. Visual tension to the facade is boosted by playing with different heights and depths, such as pushing back the entrance.
